Majorca is a Spanish island located in the Mediterranean Sea and the spoken language is basically Spanish, but as it is such a touristic island, most of the people, especially in the capital city can speak also German or even English. The island is mostly famous for being a party paradise, but I want to show you that this island offers a lot more than only the party life. Even if I enjoyed it once to party there, the other things, such as sightseeing or cultural events pleased me more.
Palma – the capital of Majorca
Another must do is, of course, visiting Palma, the major city and capital city of Majorca. We went their by bus, which was the most cheap way to get there. Once you’re arrived, I found it very difficult to know where you are or where you have to go. The first thing we did, was visiting the Cathedral of Palma. This is such an amazing and huge building.
After walking a little bit through the old city we arrived at the Plaça Major. There we had a little snack. In the afternoon, we did a bit of shopping and in the evening we visited the Port of Palma, where we also had our diner.
Palma Aquarium
The Palma Aquarium is something you should visit if you have nothing else to do, or if the weather is bad. Basically, it is an aquarium like all the others, with a lot of fishes and other animals.

Majorca – Party Island
I don’t know if everyone knows what the Ballermann 6 is. So basically it’s a beach bar at the Platja de Palma. It’s mostly attractive for German tourists, they simply love the Ballermann. To describe it, it’s a little steel cottage with a terrace on the beach. You can drink and eat there. You can find those steel cottages along the beach. Over a distance of 4 km (around 2 miles), there are 15 Ballermans, this means 15 steel cottages. The most famous one is the Ballermann 6, where you drink basically german beer and spanish sangria out of buckets with drinking straws. But since a few years, the spanish government try to stop this. The drinking out of buckets is prohibited, and since this year (2013), you’re not allowed to drink alcohol in public streets. The government doesn’t want the image of a party paradise anymore.
On our last evening, we decided to go into one of the most famous clubs of Palma, the MegaArena. We weren’t there by accident. As we were lying on the beach that noon, a guy came to us to make promotion for the MegaArena, and he said that the bachelor Paul Janke would be there tonight. So, of course I had to see him. The Bachelor was a german TV show, where a guy, the bachelor, was in search of the love of his life (I know that these shows are mostly unreal, but I love to watch it). At this point I have to thank my boyfriend, that he went there with me. When the bachelor finally gave autographs and posed for pictures with him, it seemed like all the girls were crazy, they hustle, shouted and almost cried. At the end, I was lucky to leave the club, with an autograph and a picture with the bachelor.
